Magdelin college Oxford

Magdelin college Oxford has educated some of histories greatest characters...well ok off hand I can only think of Oscar Wilde and Lawrence of Arabia. Still thats enough to set my mind racing as to who actually drank from this humble cup...did Oscar Wilde drop this and break the handle off? Oh well we can all dream-I've had this cup for over 15 years, when I lived in Thailand I took this cup with me, thats how much I like it!

Soveriegn of the seas, an unusual lustre cup and saucer

This very large cup and saucer is decorated with two ships, "Soveriegn of the seas" and the "Flying cloud" a very nautical piecewith lovely pink lustre finish. I would like to know how old this cup and saucer are...I wonder if they are the same period as the ships?

I cant help wondering what the motivation was for someone producing this monster cup? Advertising?

A very large plate!

I  always thought that Watteau was an artist...what do I know...I like this big heavy plate-though I dont think I have ever seen it used for anything! As always if anyone could provide more information I would be grateful.

Is this Worcester?

Hi this is a coffee pot that has lived in a cardboard box for as long as I can remember. The problem is as with most of the collection we know nothing about who made it! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Transfer printed cups

Hi,
I have hundreds of cups which either advertise something, celebrate something or are just plain strange! I like them all as they are pieces of history which tell a story and give us a direct link to the past.

More Lustre...lots of it!

Hi,
my Dad was cleaning out a cabinet so I thought Id take a few pics to share with any other fans of copper lustre (are there any?). Also there is a terrocota piece of a child with a dog, there is only a number on this item, is it German? (the dog has glass eyes), thanks for looking and if you have any information I would love to know more about these items.

Copper Lustre

In recent years the lustre seems to have worn off copper lustre but I dont care I have loads of the stuff. I am sure that fashion will come back around and recognise this heroic pottery for what it is-which is superb!
here are some of my teapots, I wonder if anyone else collects this type of pottery?

Zoo part 2

This is a very unusual plant pot featuring a tiger growling at a snail! It is well made and the items-the tree stump, the snail and the tiger are all glazed and applied seperatley. There are no marks on this large piece which is fairly heavy and rather amusing!

Next up is a hare used as a pin cushion...no marks but an interesting item I am sure you will agree.

Thanks for looking, haveyou any idea who made these items? Help always appreciated, you can contact me on carlulverston@hotmail.co.uk thanks

My pottery zoo!

On the glass and pottery forum there is a "zoo" of sorts so I thought that I could start a similar theme here with the little pot animals that I have (all over the house)...I will put more on tomorrow as they are all in different cabinets. Again if anyone knows who made these irems or when I would be grateful.

The polar bear is some sort of parrian (cant spell that) and is hollow and just looks like it has some age with it. The pug gog holding a basket is also old, possibly Victorian? There are no markings on this either.
Thanks chaps I lokk forward to any feedback.
